Job Title: UX Designer
TRAVLR is a travel recommendations and booking platform by the founders of The Bali Bible, and employs 70 people across Australia, New Zealand and Indonesia. Founded by Melbourne husband and wife duo Simon & Lani te Hennepe, the TRAVLR journey began in 2009 as a PDF of their recommendations for things to do in Bali shared with their friends, and has expanded to become ‘The Bali Bible’ site and mobile app.
Last year we secured Series A funding to scale the concept and the team beyond Bali and into new locations including New Zealand, Fiji and Indonesia. We’re now on the lookout for a UX Designer to join our small and friendly team in Melbourne. We’re based in Windsor, beside the train station with plenty of great coffee and food options within short walking distance.
You are a passionate UX designer, with a desire to help shape and guide the seamless experience we strive deliver to travellers. From research, sketches, workflows, storyboards, design workshops and prototypes, you'll use whatever creative means necessary to get the job done.
You are a self-starter with a positive, can-do attitude with a clear sense of initiative, who takes responsibility and accountability for the overall solution. You should have 2+ years experience in a similar role, with a proven ability to champion the needs, motivations and desires of the end users throughout each project, while pragmatically balancing them with the business needs. Some days you will be working on crafting information architecture and sitemap, others you’ll be sketching user flows and developing clickable wireframes.
Able to play well with other team members, you're comfortable in collaborative team environments and can communicate well with everyone, from UI Designers and Developers through to Product Managers and business stakeholders. You’ll work within a cross-functional, multi-disciplinary team to deliver excellent experiences for our customers in an agile environment. You have an openness and flexible approach to different viewpoints in order to deliver well considered design solutions. A great communicator and a likeable person, it's not enough to simply create a great design for a product; you can also clearly articulate the logic behind the design and how it meets both business and user goals.
You should have a qualification in UX, design, HCI or related discipline, and be well versed with methodologies such as Lean UX, Lean Startup and Human Centred Design principles.
To apply for this role and join a fun, successful global online business with a great team, please submit a cover letter, CV and a portfolio of your work to demonstrate your proven ability in these areas.
Must have permanent residency in Australia.
